BEIJING, March 8, 2012, SinoCast -- A high-end inter-city EMU train independently researched and produced by CSR Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Co., Ltd. was put into operation in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on March 8. The bullet train export project contains 228 EMUs and it is the largest motor train unit order China has seen.

The inter-city bullet train, CSR Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive researched and produced for Kuala Lumpur, can run at a maximum speed of 140 kilometers per hour. With a capacity of nearly 1200 persons, the bullet train is composed of 6 carriages.

With 228 units being put into operation, Kuala Lumpur will increase its daily passenger transportation volume from 9,500 persons to 200,000 persons. The bullet train gets an outstanding performance, with weight being 3 tons less than peers. The train unit can save 20,000 kilowatt-hours of power annually and energy feedback rate is over 95%.

In a bid to provide better service for motor train units in operation in Malaysia, CSR Corporation Limited (SHSE: 601766) set up a after-sale service and maintenance center in Kuala Lumpur and initiated a new business mode combining sales and service for overseas market to take a foothold in Malaysia and launch service in Southeast Asia, which is very meaningful for CSR to expand overseas market.
