| Baidu to Open Brazil Office to Challenge Google Feb 16, 2012 |
BEIJING, February 16, 2012, SinoCast -- The Ministry of Commerce of China announced on its official website on February 16 that Chinese search engine company Baidu is preparing for opening an office in Sao Paulo, Brazil with a purpose to understand the Brazilian and Latin American markets and develop development strategies suitable to the two markets.
According to Brazilian media, a manager who just signed a contract with Baidu to be responsible for the Latin American regional operation disclosed Baidu entered Brazil in order to have a direct competition against Google. Baidu admitted the saying yesterday. Internet analysts said the room of growth in China is not big for Baidu and it is an inevitable choice for it to seek revenue growth via going international.
