Subaru Calls Back 2,608 Tribeca SUVs in China   Oct 14, 2008

BEIJING, October 14, SinoCast -- Subaru China, a wholly owned subsidiary of Subaru car division of Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. of Japan, starts withdrawing 2,608 B9-Tribeca/Tribeca SUVs in the Chinese market from October 14, 2008.

The company has handed in a recall report to the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China on October 14 according to the country's regulation on the recall of defected car products.

Those Subaru SUVs to be recalled in the country were made between June 3, 2005 and July 28, 2008. The defect is the improper design of the front transverse linkage of the rear suspension, which may break if the car is running fast long time on rugged roadway. Drivers can feel abnormal sound or the car cannot operate well.

The company will examine the recalled cars and change improved linkages for them to ensure safety. It will inform those car owners or car owners can contact the brand's maintenance stations on the matter.
